Simon and Garfunkel made a Masterpiece but David Draiman has created a new more powerful version and brought Sound of Silence back into the new millennium.
Over the years people has speculated to what the meaning of this song is or if it has any meaning at all that was first performed in 1964. Some say it had something to do with the Vietnam War others say its more about the protesters in the USA that was against the war.
For me it has always represented a magical time when a boy turned into a teenager and then coping with struggles of been a teenager. I was very fortunate to have had great friends and people in my space - together we made great memories.
As a rule I don't like cover versions but when I hear David's powerful voice singing "Sound of Silence" - it did something. It makes me think of friends and people around me. Friends that is suffering and are having their battles in Silence with;-
David Draiman song version is about hope and that when you least expect, a ray of light will hit you making you notice the prophets work around you.
Be brave and do disturbed the Silence
Recently I readed a post by Sarah Eaton whose take on this song is more believable than my. According to Sarah this song writen by 21 year old Paul Simon while he was still living with his parents. He use to go into the dark tiled bathroom because it had a echo effect and then play "hello darkness, my old friend -I ve come to talk with you again"
This version does sound more logic. I have also attached a cover version by Jamie Dupuis play on a Harp Guitar.
I guess this is just one of those songs that can be played forever and it will sound great!
