South African National Longboard Surfing Championships at The Point in Mosselbay April 2016
The weather was absolutely great only on Friday we had a small storm (that rip a couple of tears in out tent). The tent tears was cause by my own stupidity because I packed a container against the side of the tent. (Mistake) The new generation tents are build to move and bend with the winds
The Positive side is that the Winds also help create major waves, with swells of 5 feet and just around the Point the swells was over 20 feet.
It has been a tread to watch the older master surfers in action. These more mature wavemaster just confirmed again age is just a number when are having fun
As for the youngsters - Amazing - that is about all how I can describe these athlete's. They make surfing these longboards look so easy.
I was Blessed to have Mike and Eddie staying next to us at Mosselbay Point Caravan park (they were also part of the more mature elite-surfer-group that has had thousands of waves beneath their bellies -"boards"). At the end of each day they always shared some of the main events and happenings, it was also at these times that I also picked up a couple of tips and some the surfing-lingo.
Surfing General Knowledge
Thanks to the nice and friendly longboard surfers in Mosselbay of 2016 Nationals, I also now know some of the surfing terms used to describe certain conditions and happenings.
Always had the impression that Surfer were arrogant, self centered Airheads, but the surfers of the 2016 National SA longboard Surfing Championship proved this theory wrong and showed me a different side.
I suppose it's like anything else in life - the better you become, the lesser you have to fake
