Desperate times call for Desperate measures!
We live in difficult times and to survive we do have to be more creatively about overcoming life challenges. Tapping electricity from street lamp is common and its not like it only happens in isolate cases.
The concerning factor is the children that has to walk under these homemade live-electrical connections.. With powerful winds in Port Elizabeth the inferior electrical connections and thin electrical gets broken regularly.
Instead of exposing our youth to this very real electrical hazard, why don't we acknowledge the need for electricity in the informal settlement.
Here is a crazy idea!
Why don't we get some job creation going and train a "electrician or wireman" for each town block.
This "Block-electrician" will be responsible for the following
Inturn the homeowners will pay him a minimum fee for each connection
Free Electricity ! ! I know what you thinking that maybe I'm spending a little too much time working at Elizabeth Donkin Hospital but just think about it. . . .
